Bass Extreme - "The ULTIMATE TEST"...

File report: BASS EXTREME

"This album features music tracks with sub bass frequencys; some that can be felt more than heard. It will take any system to the extreme: from ultra low bass thru crisp, sparkling high end.
For maximum test applications, a narrator explains which signals are being transmitted at the start of each track.
Also included are Newtown's exclusive holographic and harmonic bass processing, as well as long, extended ultra low bass notes below 20 Hz and piercing high end up to 20KHz."

Let the good man explain to you himself:

Let's explore some of the styles;

DUB

HIP HOP

RASTA

NewTown's Holographic 3D Sound

REGGAE

SPL TEST

As you can hear, ENOUGH bass right there to put any system to the limit!!
You can listen to some more test tones right HERE

Bass Tapes

Made in the Philippines!

'Once upon a time' bass music was really booming! (pun intended ofcourse). I found (read "bought") some bass cassette tapes manufactured by Universal Records in the Philippines...

BASS野郎・四

Bass Yarou 4

Yeah man, that subwoofer has a well-fitted resonance-box... Here we have another cd in the Bass Yarou series, which, as you might have figured out by now, is known for the interesting covers. Funny thing about this one is that the original cover to the booklet is actually a yellow one:

The cartoon cover is an extra one page leaflet.

All of this nice artwork was created by Illdozer Graphuck and the tracks (23 in total) come from a variety of bass labels; Dynamix II Records (Quad Queen), Joey Boy Records (Lady Dice and Fresh Celeste), Newtown Records (Beat Oulaws, Bass Boy & Def Bass Krew) and IBP (Bass Fraternity). Not a bad compilation (although the Beat Outlaws tracks suck balls...)

Felix The Cat - Mixed By DJ Ameken

 Not your average bass cover...

But the music is!! One would not expect, but there is some Newtown, some Neurodisc and a little bit of DM. I was hoping it would have been really "mixed" like the title said, but it's not actually like that. It's more a "cut and paste" compilation. That was rather disappointing.

CHECK IT OUT ON MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL

The interesting part of this CD are the tracks by "Scorpio". No clue who is behind it, maybe DJ Ameken himself? But they are not that bad at all:

What is also very interesting is that in the tray we receive free drawing lessons. I have always wanted to draw Felix but could never figure out how to do it!  Thank you DJ Ameken and Bad News Records (y)

Have some more Scorpio

D.J. Bass Boy - Licensed To Bass

Can you see what they were doing here?

The album title? The crashed car? The "D.J. Bass Boy" logo? The American flag?
Yes that seems to be it... an ode to the Beastie Boys' classic debut album??

"Way cool dude!"

Back and front cover combined:

I hear some "Paul Revere" in this one

Brass Monkey?

Fight For Your Right!

There is "Slower and Lower" (Slow and Low), "Quad Craft" (She's Crafty) and "Stealin Speakers" (Rhymin' & Stealin')...

Not bad, not bad... Not the greatest but not bad. I DO like the artwork concept!

Here's what Newtown also had for sale that time:

Vicious Base - The Ghost Is Back

Featuring D.J. Magic Mike!

Featuring? "All songs produced, arranged & mixed by: D.J. Magic Mike", so it's safe to say Vicious Base IS D.J. Magic Mike this time around... This was his second release for the Newtown Music Group and I gotta hand it to Mike, he was a beast in creating them jeep beats! Take a listen to my favorite cuts from this album:

Dope, right? But since this is a covers blog I should not forget to mention the artwork, which was done by Wayne Tillett,  a well known cartoonist for D.C. Comics! How cool is that...

BASS野郎外伝 爆音ケンカ道

From Bad News Records

Yet another Bass Yarou release from Bad New Records. On the cover we have the same guy that is on THIS CD right here, but this is before he turned into a vampire. Makes sense, this is release BNCY-53 while the other one is BNCY-64. Also, does anybody know who this character is? Must be from a manga, but I don't now sh*t about that. So if you know, let me know please...

Back to the music. Good cd. Mainly Neurodisc tracks (we have Bass Hit, Bass Quake, Bass Cult, Bass Shock, Bass Erotica, etc...)...

But there's also a little Newtown (Vicious Base and Basswerk) and Joey Boy (Cyber Messiah)

Really worth the buy. Came with an extra sticker just like the other one.

I would like to inform you on who did the artwork but I really can't read anything in the booklet...

Bass Christmas

For the bass lovers only!

That's right y'all! December 25th is the day of the ride!!

What we have here is a Japanese compilation of 20 assorted bass tracks. The Christmas vibes were taken from the Dynamix II Christmas compilation. Credited here to Cosmic Conspiracy, I don't know whether the names were changed to protect the innocent or to avoid copyright claims...

Same thing with Mega Jon Bass, who is credited here ass Planet Bass, which is the name of the album this song was taken from.

Knight of Bass is the Newtown recording artist Knigths of Bass

Mudd Blunted?

HAVE A VERY BASS CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!

Bass野郎外伝 爆音ケンカ道

 地獄変

OK, I know it took me long enough but I finally found the first volume of the Bass野郎外伝 爆音ケンカ道 series; BNCY-40. I already had BNCY-53 and BNCY-64. This one is another good compilation. There are Joey Boy tracks, Newtown, Neurodisc, IBP, a little bit of everything. Good stuff.

Unlike the latter 2 releases there was no sticker with this one yet though.

But...

This one came with a fold out poster!

Bass Christmas was about to be released next. Perfect timing. But then again, Christmas was a week ago already. How time flies! This was probably my last post of the year. Hopefully we can all have much more bass joy next year.

SEE YOU THEN FRIENDS!!
