Bassman - Bass 2 Tha Old School Volume 2

The wait is over!

I told you that I couldn't wait but luckily I did not have to wait long. The Bassman is back y'all!
And as you can tell from looking at the cover (with Illustration by Darren Shaw & graphic design from Daniel Lynch), Mr Bassman brought some friends; DJ Billy E, DJ Lace, Kevin Montgomery, 2BMF, Mellow J and DJ Sway-Z.

Check 'em out:

"Our second collection of Old School club anthems set to the Bass of the 90's. "Drop" these classic cutz in your car or home system, listen back, and enter the domain of Quad city, U.S.A. Whether your peepin "Computer Power" and "Jam On It" from Newcleus or the classic "Play At Your Own Risk", the Bassman has phattaned every track giving props to the Old School while lacing them wit the flava of BOOM!

Bassman - Bass 2 Tha Old School

A collection of classic cutz with the power of bass!

"This collection of old school themes have been playing in dance halls and car stereos for years and have finally been reproduced in a booming bass style. These club anthems bring the noise in an avalanche of beat and volume that will put sound systems to the ultimate test." (Dave Friedman)

Honestly I did not expect much from this CD because of the cover. Normally the cover art should do the opposite; attract you to the product and make you feel like listening, but for some reason I thought this would be some type of fake bass music.
My mistake!
I guess my mistake was not realising that "Bassman" was Mr Bassman Keith Rosenberg! Ofcourse it has to be booming then!
You know he drops bombs!

"In newly recorded, bassified versions, the old school now pumps and thumps like never before. From Shannon's "Let the music play" (a # 2 hit on Billboard's dance chart)..."

"to the classic techno foundation of Germany's Kraftwerk and their hit "Trans Europe Express", the best of old school is movin' from the dance floor to the street."

And there was more surprising news! It was not just Mr Bassman bassing. 2 Out of the 13 tracks were produced by none other than DJ Billy E! "Numbers" and "Music Non Stop"...

Yup, this whole album was a pleasant surprise. LISTEN here if you want more. Sorry Darren Shaw for underestimating your artwork. I can't wait for VOLUME 2!

Bass Rocket

Produced by D.J. Kimura

It took me some time to find volume 1 for a reasonable price, but I finally did it. And the price was actually very reasonable: 1 full yen! Oshou brought his skills to design the bassmobile and -girl, and Hideki Kawazoe took care of the rest of the artwork. There might be more interesting info here...

but I can't read Japanese :-(

And the music? The music's not bad, the music's not bad... Let's not waste more time, just listennnnnn...

Bass Factory 808 - It's Bass Time

Finally...

... i found this album with the uncensored cover for a decent price. You see, I bought this CD some time ago but I received Pandisc release PDD-8152, which is the store-friendly version without the bikini girls.

Mira:

Both releaseses are identical; released by Pandisc, produced & mixed by Ivan Kopas, and cover design by Gerard Delaney & Sergio Piñón of Adimpact, Inc.

so yes, it has always been bass time, but you know we bassheads prefer our covers with booty or bikini girls...

Cover Wars Part 9 - A Matter Of Approach

So what we have here is The Mystery Of Bass From Outside This World

VS

Bass Odyssee A Journey Into Space

Both CD's are distributed by United Sound. And both of them were produced by the same people; The "Cosmic Passenger" (H.J. Scheffler) and the "Millennium Slider" (R. Sobiech). The difference is that on the first one the bass is coming to visit us, and on the latter we go and search for the bass. Let's hear how that works out...

when we make alien contact:

when we enter unknown territory:

what happened in Roswell?

Personally I found our journey into space more entertaining. The whole CD can be enjoyed whereas the "bass from outside this world" almost put me to sleep later on (could have been their plan ofcourse, to put humanity to sleep!!). If you want to make your own decision, listen to both albums yourself!

The Mystery of Bass

Bass Odyssee

But the clear winner for today is...

THE DROP PHENOMENON ofcourse!!

just listen to the first contact

another world

and what happened in Area 51

Yup, no doubt about it. Alien Bass for the win.
