BASS 野郎
YOU TRY IT!
Today I bring you a really cool CD, or better yet a 3 CD! This might well be the rarest find in my collection. What we have here is a 3 CD box released in Taiwan in 1996 by the Mingjing Studio (明鏡影音館). Check it out, came is a cardboard slide case
There is no Taiwanese bass music on the CD's though but a slur of classics from Neurodisc, Newton, IBP, Pandisc, you know, "the regulars". What makes it interesting is that it's not just a compilation but the tracks come "by way of Japan" so to say. Let me explain; the cover was clearly taken from/inspired by the "Bass Ya Low - Erotica" (Bass野郎 エロチカ) series. See the comparison with Volume 1, clearly the pic from the inside:
So at first I thought the 3 CD's were "Erotica" Vol 1, 2 and 3. I even prepared this picture lol:
But it turned out to be more complicated that that. Disc 1 starts out like Erotica 2 and ends with the tracks from Erotica 1. Disc 3 shows 15 tracks on the cover but in reality only has 12, some "Erotica" and disc 2 has a bunch of stuff I don't even know what it is. Even a few Debonaire tracks in "Erotica" style that I couldn't find on the series. I just gave up trying to figure it out and enjoyed the music. Isn't that the whole idea anyhow?
I will be honest, very pleased with this find!
THE DIGGING CONTINUES...

Cover Wars Part 9 - A Matter Of Approach
VS
Bass Odyssee A Journey Into Space
Both CD's are distributed by United Sound. And both of them were produced by the same people; The "Cosmic Passenger" (H.J. Scheffler) and the "Millennium Slider" (R. Sobiech). The difference is that on the first one the bass is coming to visit us, and on the latter we go and search for the bass. Let's hear how that works out...
when we make alien contact:
when we enter unknown territory:
what happened in Roswell?
Personally I found our journey into space more entertaining. The whole CD can be enjoyed whereas the "bass from outside this world" almost put me to sleep later on (could have been their plan ofcourse, to put humanity to sleep!!). If you want to make your own decision, listen to both albums yourself!
The Mystery of Bass
Bass Odyssee
But the clear winner for today is...
THE DROP PHENOMENON ofcourse!!
just listen to the first contact
another world
and what happened in Area 51
Yup, no doubt about it. Alien Bass for the win.

Cover Wars Part 8 - Bass Construction VS Recone Kit
Bass Construction?
Ofcourse we all now Albert Cabrera, the One Rascal from the Latin Rascals, knows how to work his beats. And we have seen many times that he knows how to drop the bass! The Bass Construction cd (with artwork design by Lonnie Lopez & Ric Garcia, and released on Thump Records) has a lot of breakbeat heavy tracks on it! The pace really picks up as from track 7: Smerphies dance...
and you might go into a breakdance frenzy with trakcs 8 and 9...
Or
Recone Kit?
The faceless Italian Debonaire gives us more loop theft and speaker damage on this release! With 15 tracks this cd (with cover design and graphics by Coral Reef Design) is actually NO joke, because Debonaire is armed with a sampler and dangerous...
and the bass he creates is so wicked,
you will be left with busted out woofers...
and some assembly will be required.
Hence the Recone Kit!
So? Who's the winner??
I think i will go for...
Bass Foundation
With artwork by Vivian Galainena for Alto Design.
Bass demolition instead of bass construction; much more fun isn't it?

IBP-0010
For a few years now, me, and other collectors have been wanting to find out which are the unknown IBP releases 3, 5 and 10.
So finally, thanks to Discogs and a friendly seller from Sweden, I finally got my hands on IBP-0010. Unfortunately for "all of us", IBP-0010 is exactly the same as IBP-0011, which is "The best of I.B.P."... Only difference is the barcode and the cd color. Check the pics; # 10 on top, # 11 at bottom...
Still I'm very pleased with this find. Now it's just # 3 and # 5 to go. If you are reading this and you have one of those 2, please hit me up will ya?

BASS野郎・四
Yeah man, that subwoofer has a well-fitted resonance-box... Here we have another cd in the Bass Yarou series, which, as you might have figured out by now, is known for the interesting covers. Funny thing about this one is that the original cover to the booklet is actually a yellow one:
The cartoon cover is an extra one page leaflet.
All of this nice artwork was created by Illdozer Graphuck and the tracks (23 in total) come from a variety of bass labels; Dynamix II Records (Quad Queen), Joey Boy Records (Lady Dice and Fresh Celeste), Newtown Records (Beat Oulaws, Bass Boy & Def Bass Krew) and IBP (Bass Fraternity). Not a bad compilation (although the Beat Outlaws tracks suck balls...)

Y2K Bug - Journey To The Next Millennium
On January 1st, 2000 get ready to PANIC!
The BASSic Disturbance cd made me listen to some of Debonaire's IBP releases again, and as you can imagine, they are really great! Like this one from "Y2K Bug" (IBP 0028). Remember when the year 2000 was approaching and "the whole world" was in fear of the Millenium bug? Luckily for us nothing happened but Debonaire made a great cd dealing with the whole theme, released in 1999.
On track 4 you can follow the countdown clock...
Or party like it's your last day...
Now if the Y2K virus would have REALLY struck, we wouldn't have been able to go to www.catastrophe.com ofcourse, duh!
This might be the best track of the album. The beat really starts slapping at 1:34!!
And to finish today's post off, here's the 16:49 minutes megamix. He warned you; NO ONE will remain unaffected!!!!!!
Oh yeah, design by Coral Reef Design Group.
Check out the fear mongering!!

BASSic Disturbance - 2LD4U
Very cool bass CD released by USACi of Texas. 80 Tracks in total! OK, there are only 13 music tracks ofcourse and 55 sign waves (26 HZ to 80 HZ). We also get pink noise, sweeps, 'in' and 'out of' phase, a stage test and last but not least: digital silence! But concerning the music tracks; what do you think? Pandisc? Bass Mekanik? No, not this time! It's IBP time! 11 Classics from Debonaire 's IBP releases (Circuit Breaker, Bass Fraternity, The Bassorcist, Recone Kit and Professor Hum Drum), 1 from DJ Billy E's "Nightmare on bass street" and "Bass boom bottom" from Power Supply's album with the same title (Not an IBP release!). Confusing? Just take a look at the inlay, that'll clear things up...
USACi intro
and some Digital silence! Oh yeah!
To schedule an event feel free to contact USACi of Texas thru https://www.facebook.com/USACiofTEXAS. This CD was made in participation with Heat Wave Inc, RE Audio, Mystic Entertainment and M5DESIGNS. I have some more USACiofTEXAS CD's so stay tuned...

USAC Bass - "SPL Shootout"
An SPL shootout between 3 labels: Pandisc, IBP and Hip Rock, organized by the U.S.A.C.! The cd itself was released by Pandisc and compiled and mastered by The Bass Mekanik. Design and Layout by Gerard Delaney & Lauren Martinez of Brand-X-Design.
Here's the full tracklist:

Bass Patrol! 2001
Dope cd right here! I think this is the last release in the Bass Patrol! series but they closed with a bang; 21 minus 1 songs produced by none other than Claudio "Debonaire" Barrella! Don't know why they added 1 none-Debonaire produced track... not that I'm complaining because it's actually a good track:
And now for the Debonaire tracks, exclusive for this release I think! We start off with a bass bomb!
A good amount of booty bass:
And what's also interesting is that there's a bunch of tracks that were previously released by Debonaire on IBP records but the names have been changed (probably to protect the innocent...)
Recognize this one? "Subsonic device" by "King Of Loud":
Exactly, that's "Son of Circuit Breaker" from the IBP release "Warning: Shock Hazard" by Circuit Breaker. Here's another one from that cd, originally called "Electricityyy", now renamed "Viagra Bass - Odyssey drop"...
Can you guess this one??? (yeah it's a hard one...)

Club Bass
This was the last release from that classic ever booming IBP label; IBP0032. Seriously difficult to get your hands on this one, but I finally did it (after about 3 to 4 years of digging). As you might guess from the title, the cd is full of ravy, aciddy, clubby beats, with a lot of BASS added ofcourse! Ofcourse, all tracks are arranged, tranced and raved by... The staff @ Debonaire Productions!! That's right: it's Debonaire Music!
Here is a good example of what to expect:
Debonaire himself called it "rave era car audio bass (3 out of 10 stars)". OK, maybe not his best work but a real sign of the times though, which is fun about listening to these cd's... Remember TLC's "No scrubs"?
I think this has to be the best track off this cd: "Twistology" featuring Mr "Girls get ill" Kool Slic...

Innovative Bass Collection - Vol. 4 "Woofers Warped"
Oh shit he did it again!
"A must have collection of devastating sub-bass tracks compiled from classic releases originally released on cd by Innovative Bass Productions. Digitally re-mastered and boosted for fuller range audio. Each track has enough decibel assaulting bass drops to put any system to the test."
Looking at the tracklist I see tracks from "Blown 2 Bits", "Danger: High Voltage", "Super Slam Bass Jam" and "Caution: Radiation Area". Now if you're an old school cd head you might still find some of these release over at the IBP website. But if you prefer digital these are better for you ofcourse. Not only are they re-mastered but most importantly you support the artist by buying these! Here's the link: www.debonairerecords.com/wooferswarped.
Oh yeah, this is Vol. 4, do you have the other volumes already??
Since I'm not the type of person who enjoys making your life difficult, I'll provide you with the links. Just the click the pic for the album you want to buy. Enjoy the bass!!

Cover Wars Part 5 - Nightmare On Bass Street vs Nightmare On Bass Street
VS
So what's the difference? ... "Just another reissue" you might say... But it's not. The first cover is from the 1993 Innovative Bass Productions release (better known as IBP). This was the first cd to be released on that classic label and was composed by none other than DJ Billy E. It contains 9 VERY bass heavy tracks with titles that leave nothing to the imagination, like "Ultimate Bass Scare", "Burnt Voice Coils" and "Fifty Thousand Watts". Listen to the opening track "In Control":
You can still buy this cd from IBP themselves by clicking THIS link.
The second cover on the other hand belongs to a 2009 digital only Bass Mekanik Records release. It has the same title, was also produced by DJ Billy E, but this one has 11 tracks and is not just a reissue. The 11 tracks are compiled from all Billy E's IBP releases, being "Nightmare On Bass Street" 1 and 2, "Toxic Bass", "The Bass Is Out There" and "Bass Electronica". Interesting that they didn't mention those last 2 cd's in their promo text...
DJ BILLY E is one of Bass music’s original pioneers. Back in the early days of bass, before he actually became well known as DJ BILLY E, he released three very influential but now hard to find albums, NIGHTMARE ON BASS STREET 1 & 2 and TOXIC BASS. Now available for the first time in digital download format are the best of these three albums in a new 2 album release; NIGHTMARE ON BASS STREET PARTS 1 & 2. Make no mistake, this is pure old school Bass, raw and in your face, with no apologies and a must have for the true Bass fan. Key tracks are BREAK IT DOWN, NOW HEAR DIS and DRUMS & RHYTHM.
They did the same thing for "Nightmare On Bass Street II - He's back", which was originally released on the IBP label in 1994 (IBP0006) with 14 tracks.
And later released digital only on Bass Mekanik Records as a DJ Billy E compilation.
I don't think there are any winners here, since they are all booming, so I suggest you just get all of them...
