Today I bring you a really cool CD, or better yet a 3 CD! This might well be the rarest find in my collection. What we have here is a 3 CD box released in Taiwan in 1996 by the Mingjing Studio (明鏡影音館). Check it out, came is a cardboard slide case

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

There is no Taiwanese bass music on the CD's though but a slur of classics from Neurodisc, Newton, IBP, Pandisc, you know, "the regulars". What makes it interesting is that it's not just a compilation but the tracks come "by way of Japan" so to say. Let me explain; the cover was clearly taken from/inspired by the "Bass Ya Low - Erotica" (Bass野郎 エロチカ) series. See the comparison with Volume 1, clearly the pic from the inside:

 

So at first I thought the 3 CD's were "Erotica" Vol 1, 2 and 3. I even prepared this picture lol:

 

But it turned out to be more complicated that that. Disc 1 starts out like Erotica 2 and ends with the tracks from Erotica 1. Disc 3 shows 15 tracks on the cover but in reality only has 12, some "Erotica" and disc 2 has a bunch of stuff I don't even know what it is. Even a few Debonaire tracks in "Erotica" style that I couldn't find on the series. I just gave up trying to figure it out and enjoyed the music. Isn't that the whole idea anyhow?

The difference is that on the first one the bass is coming to visit us, and on the latter we go and search for the bass. Let's hear how that works out...

Personally I found our journey into space more entertaining. The whole CD can be enjoyed whereas the "bass from outside this world" almost put me to sleep later on (could have been their plan ofcourse, to put humanity to sleep!!). If you want to make your own decision, listen to both albums yourself!

Ofcourse we all now Albert Cabrera, the One Rascal from the Latin Rascals, knows how to work his beats. And we have seen many times that he knows how to drop the bass! The Bass Construction cd (with artwork design by Lonnie Lopez & Ric Garcia, and released on Thump Records) has a lot of breakbeat heavy tracks on it! The pace really picks up as from track 7: Smerphies dance...




and you might go into a breakdance frenzy with trakcs 8 and 9...

The faceless Italian Debonaire gives us more loop theft and speaker damage on this release! With 15 tracks this cd (with cover design and graphics by Coral Reef Design) is actually NO joke, because Debonaire is armed with a sampler and dangerous...

Yeah man, that subwoofer has a well-fitted resonance-box... Here we have another cd in the Bass Yarou series, which, as you might have figured out by now, is known for the interesting covers. Funny thing about this one is that the original cover to the booklet is actually a yellow one:

The cartoon cover is an extra one page leaflet.

All of this nice artwork was created by Illdozer Graphuck and the tracks (23 in total) come from a variety of bass labels; Dynamix II Records (Quad Queen), Joey Boy Records (Lady Dice and Fresh Celeste), Newtown Records (Beat Oulaws, Bass Boy & Def Bass Krew) and IBP (Bass Fraternity). Not a bad compilation (although the Beat Outlaws tracks suck balls...)
 

Maggotron - Bug Eyed Monsters

What to expect? As usual a plethora of musical styles and an abundance of samples and seriously dope scratching. As for the lyrical content, I have no idea what the hell they are talking about but it's just that that keeps you busy every time you listen to this album and so it never gets boring! Another great concept album from the Maggotron team, available world wide thru multiple streaming services and purchasing platforms including iTunes and Beats. But if I was you, I would buy it directly from debonairerecords.com so the well deserved dollars and euros go straight into the artists pockets!

Y2K Bug - Journey To The Next Millennium

On January 1st, 2000 get ready to PANIC!

The BASSic Disturbance cd made me listen to some of Debonaire's IBP releases again, and as you can imagine, they are really great! Like this one from "Y2K Bug" (IBP 0028). Remember when the year 2000 was approaching and "the whole world" was in fear of the Millenium bug? Luckily for us nothing happened but Debonaire made a great cd dealing with the whole theme, released in 1999.

Now if the Y2K virus would have REALLY struck, we wouldn't have been able to go to www.catastrophe.com ofcourse, duh!
 


 

This might be the best track of the album. The beat really starts slapping at 1:34!!

Very cool bass CD released by USACi of Texas. 80 Tracks in total! OK, there are only 13 music tracks ofcourse and 55 sign waves (26 HZ to 80 HZ). We also get pink noise, sweeps, 'in' and 'out of' phase, a stage test and last but not least: digital silence! But concerning the music tracks; what do you think? Pandisc? Bass Mekanik? No, not this time! It's IBP time! 11 Classics from Debonaire 's IBP releases (Circuit Breaker, Bass Fraternity, The Bassorcist, Recone Kit and Professor Hum Drum), 1 from DJ Billy E's "Nightmare on bass street" and "Bass boom bottom" from Power Supply's album with the same title (Not an IBP release!). Confusing? Just take a look at the inlay, that'll clear things up...

Holy cow! How time flies! I posted Volume I in may 2012 but I thought I just did only a few months ago... Anyhow, another nice sampler. 8 Tracks on this one. 2 Of them are taken from the unreleased "Jock D Wrecks the Planet" CD (OK, that album was released digitally but that was years later), the others from Quad Queen's "Queen of Quad", Bass Junkies' "Addicted to Bass" and the Dawgzillaz album.







Unfortunately the CD came without a backcover, but it's so rare and the "price was right" so I bought it already, maybe one day I'll find a complete one... 

To finish off we'll take a look at what was for sale from Dynamix II in 1995:

Dope cd right here! I think this is the last release in the Bass Patrol! series but they closed with a bang; 21 minus 1 songs produced by none other than Claudio "Debonaire" Barrella! Don't know why they added 1 none-Debonaire produced track... not that I'm complaining because it's actually a good track:

And what's also interesting is that there's a bunch of tracks that were previously released by Debonaire on IBP records but the names have been changed (probably to protect the innocent...)

The title gives it all away ofcourse; these are all tracks bas(s)ed on movies and television series. All these tracks were created, arranged, produced & televised by "The Staff at Debonaire Productions, Inc"!




 
I can hear you thinking: "The Staff at Debonaire Productions, Inc? So this must be an IBP release?".
No it's not. The sound and the artwork would make you think so but this is actually a Streetbeat Records release, with illustrations from Deryck Ragoonanan and art direction by ImagExpress, Miami, FL ... (these are the same people responsible for most of the DM Records artwork)

I really love this intro! (but not really a fan of the Gadget theme...)
