DJ Magic Mike - Bass Head

 So underestimated

 

 

Not just DJ Magic Mike but the whole genre of Miami Bass. Considering how much influence the style had on hip hop and dance music in general, it is surprising that we have not seen more releases like this!

The "Traffic Entertainment Group"  Discogs release page shows 631 reissues, with only 1 Miami bass release; this 2 CD DJ Magic Mike box. 2 CD's with a total of 110 tracks... in MP3 format! The hype sticker says "8 Albums" but actually there are 4 albums and 4 12"s/EPs.

 

A fun collectible item though. As I said 2 CD's and a book with the cover artwork and tracklists.

Cheetah meets Attitude

 

So that means we mainly get DJ Magic Mike tracks and some from Attitude Records. Actually I guess that is typical material for the "Feel The Bass" volumes. Nothing groundbreaking, I agree, but it sure has cool artwork and it is a harder to find one in the series.

 

 

When I received the CD I thought I was effed because they added the wrong disc! Luckily it was not so but the disc sure looks like the one from Vol. 8!!

 

 

 

End good all good! 

Like I said; nothing groundbreaking to be heard, but that does not make the tracks any less better!

Magic Mike has been dropping a slew of singles while we wait for his new album to be released! The first one was "Drop the Bass 2020" with Ondamike.



Then came a double header with "Feel the Bass 7 / How low can you go?". 
"Feel the Bass 7" continues the Feel the Bass series with pure bottom for the subs while "How low can you go" gives us some of that classic magical scratching from the Magician!

I already posted Dance Dragon Bass Vol. 2 before (I also posted Vol.1 as a matter of fact but that one was not mixed by DJ Magic Mike) and as you can see that was Special Issue "HARD" while this one is "SOFT"... "What is that all about?" you ask... Well, it is true that on Vol. 2 we got some hard bass tracks like "Get some"






and "Hit it" (Just to name 2)







but on this release, Vol.3, it's all R&Bass and, yes, wait for it; "soft" stuff ^^

See? Good thing there is still the Magic Mike "cut" (pun intended) to give the people what they want...







Check this out; so inside the booklet they have all the lyrics printed but look at the Magic Mike track!
"No lyric. Just noise, scratch, talking..." Noise? NOISE? C'mon son, I don't hear any noise! Maybe their speaker were rattling...

Still I really like these Japanese releases. Always nice artwork. The Dance Dragon Logo by the way was designed by Hibiki Tokiwa for Mars Art Lab.

As you can see this is a special release in the "Bass in your Face" series from Nippon Crown Co. Ltd., Japan. They already released other Magic Mike cd's but this is the only one that actually has his name on the front cover. That's probably because this is one of the 2 cd's Magic Mike approved for release in Asia. I'm not sure yet which one is the 2nd, but I got this info from Magic Mike himself so it's legit... this also means that all other Japanese Magic Mike releases are bootlegs!!

Now this particular release is the same as Vicious Base's "The ghost is back", but with 3 added tracks! Exclusive for Japan, and now for you the readers...

I don't think this cd needs any introduction. A 1991 classic from MC Madness (R.I.P.), DJ Lace & DJ Magic Mike. I already posted the follow up to this one; "The Ghost Is Back" which was released on Newtown Records. Also released on vinyl ofcourse (not only black but also blue vinyl!), this cd has a bonus track unavailable on the record...
