What to expect? As usual a plethora of musical styles and an abundance of samples and seriously dope scratching. As for the lyrical content, I have no idea what the hell they are talking about but it's just that that keeps you busy every time you listen to this album and so it never gets boring! Another great concept album from the Maggotron team, available world wide thru multiple streaming services and purchasing platforms including iTunes and Beats. But if I was you, I would buy it directly from debonairerecords.com so the well deserved dollars and euros go straight into the artists pockets!

This is actually not a bad electro bass cd at all! Released on Majammy records (E-SA 1010) it reminds me of Dynamix II productions at times, but then 'light' versions so to say... what say ye??

'Once upon a time' bass music was really booming! (pun intended ofcourse). I found (read "bought") some bass cassette tapes manufactured by Universal Records in the Philippines...
Remember the "Bass Zone" post? That one also had the front cover in the back, or the back cover in the front. And funny enough that one was also not so great, just like this one. These 2 tracks are the bass-y-est on the cd:
All tracks were written by Goldfinger and I think he's more into a funky, playalistic type a flow... but tbt; I'm not really feeling it...
Luckily there's a nice mini-poster for the garage* or workshop* that comes with this release

Great cover! Unfortunately it doesn't say who drew it. I also wonder why they are robbing the New Town store? Probably because they like the merchandise... or could it be a diss? I do know one thing; wish I had one of these items here:
So about the music. The cd starts with a bass test and an explanation on what bass actually is. This might be useful if this would be your first contact with a bass cd...
Then they go into straight jackin...
Not a bad cd at all. All songs produced and arranged by Roderick B. Whitehead, mixed and engineered by Jimmy Star. For some reason I think it could have been an Underwood release. But the only "problem" is that after some time it starts sounding like a breakbeats album, "rap your own" type.

I know it's not thursday but here's a throwback for you anyhow; DJ Droppin's debut on Bass Mekanik records! I was listening to this cd again today and I realised 2 things. 1st off all I realised how time flies. I remember this album being released like it was a few months ago, but actually the release date on Bass Mekanik's bandcamp says 22 march 2011! 2nd thing I realised (or should I say remembered) is that this album is a real CLASSIC! DJ Droppin together with Bassotronics became the first of a range of new artists being promoted by Bass Mekanik, in order to keep car audio bass alive.
"DJ DROPPIN is an alias of Rob Grimes, an Oregon based electronic music
producer who is creating a new Bass style influenced by some of the
classic sounds and creators of electro & bass, including BASS 305,
TECHMASTER P.E.B., and BASS MEKANIK"
The sound on this album is very minimal, spacy at times, but musical enough to keep you interested during the full length of the songs, which can span up to almost 6 minutes. Here's a good example of the minimalism:
