When I saw this DVD for sale on a Brazilian website I really had no idea what to expect!

DJ Fury? Bass Patrol? Mega Jon Bass? On DVD? I doubted that these guys would have videos that did not reach the internet yet, but you never know?! Or maybe it would be MP3's on DVD? A regular CD in a DVD case?  I hope by now you are becoming as curious as I was!!

Good thing for you is that you don't need to wait weeks for the mail to arrive! If you scroll a little further all will become clear...

 

 

That was Bass Patrol's  "Bass Vibrations". Did you see what they did there?? :D Tuning footage from YouTube. Here's another one; Planet Bass (known to us as Mega Jon Bass) with "Drop That Bottom":

  

All in all a fun item to have in the bass collection. A lot of time was put in this project. Printed CD, full color artwork, very nice. It also shows how big bass music was in Brazilian culture; other DVD's in the series are KC and The Sunshine Band, disco, love songs... Hardly do you find bass music in this kind of releases.

1st we had the Mills Brothers, 2nd was DJ Fury and RX Lord, 3rd time around DYC and DJ Gusto, and for the 4th and final time (for now) we got The Committtee (Trak, Tek, Chapter, Fenz & Che), who also produced cd's for DJ Uncle Al, Creep Dog and the Bass Patrol Angels just to name a few...

Not much more I can say about it. I used to like the Bass Patrol Angels in the beginning but after a few listens the novelty kinda wore off... If you haven't yet, better take a listen yourself. All tracks produced by Uncle Win and Full Deck.

Cover Wars Part 6 - Bass Patrol vs The Miami Bass Machine

that's the game you could be playing with these ones. Print both covers, give 'em to your children and play "spot the difference" ^^. This HAS to be the ultimate in cover wars! In all honesty I had both of these albums (don't remember which one I bought first) but didn't realize the connection in the beginning. I know, my bad, but one day I finally noticed and was like "WTF!". Nice artwork by both artists! Manny Morell for Bass Patrol and who else but Lamar Johnson for The Miami Bass Machine.
As you might already know by now, this is the original Bass Patrol, Calvin Mills II and Carlton Mills, not RX Lord & DJ Fury. But did you know MC Madness (R.I.P.) is also featured on this album? Listen:





Since the cover for The Miami Bass Machine is done by Lamar Jonson, you already know the music had to be produced by DXJ and friends. Talking bout a CLASSIC bass album!!

Two timeless bass albums we will never get tired of, that's for sure. And the good thing is, it seems there was never any animosity between both artists. When asked: "The cover from the album "The Miami Bass Machine" was a persiflage about "Bass Patrol". What was behind the story ? Was there a battle between DXJ and the Mills?", DXJ replied: "No not at all..Always have been cool with Calvin and Carlton. It was more fo a friendly shot at Joey Boy.. particularly Junior." So now you know...

This is not the best Bass Patrol! Volume I've heard. It starts off with some Florida breaks





Then we get treated with some covers, like "rock it" and "19"

Good thing we can trust on The Gods Of Quad to get the party jumping!!!

I could have known this was gonna be crap ofcourse! The name "Euro bass" didn't promise too much good, and then the "cute" manga style cover also gave it away... But still, I'm a sucker for the "Bass Patrol!" series so I went ahead and bought it. Well, it can go straight to the archives! For a group that calls themselves the "Boom Sonic System"... I calculated it; the average length that a song MIGHT become a bass records is 28,9 seconds!! After that... 
Take a listen to this prime example, and prepare to turn down your volume at about 0:33 in





You see? "I ain't bullshitting". At least the designers gave it their best. The sleeve is designed by Katsuya Uehara and the illustration is done by Kazunori Nakazawa. If you want to do the math yourself, or maybe you like this kind of music, no problem for me, just go OVERHERE.
